Community Involvement

Since 2005, I have had the pleasure of acting as the JDRF Family Chair for northern Vancouver Island. Supported by the JDRF staff in Victoria and working with an amazing and dedicated local volunteer network, we organize events such as the annual Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes to raise money and awareness awareness for finding a cure. In both 2007 and 2008 I had the opportunity to sponsor the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock Golf Tournament in Campbell River, and the experience has been a blast. We're looking forward to the 2009 event, and already brainstorming how we can make our tent even more fun for the golfers!
As the newest and youngest member of the Sid Williams Theatre Board of Directors, I volunteered to become Chair of the Superstar program which provides complimentary tickets to social service agencies in the community to be distributed to people who would otherwise not be able to afford them. This incredibly worthwile program has struggled to gain awareness, and it's my goal to raise its profile in the upcoming years. Courtenay RecreationI strongly believe that a healthy body is essential to a healthy life, so I've always tried to make time for fitness as part of my lifestyle. To keep myself active and help others make fitness a regular part of their lives, I teach strength and step aerobics for Courtenay Recreation. Come join me for a workout at the Lewis Centre (Lewis Park) Monday or Tuesday mornings, and start your week with a healthy dose of fun and fitness!
